As a new school year begins, we want to help your family start the year with confidence. Below is a collection of important reminders, resources, and more to help you prepare for the first day of school.

  • Prince George County Public Schools’ first day of classes is scheduled for Monday, August 24, 2026. The division’s 2026-27 School Year calendar is available on all of our district websites.

  • PGCPS' parent portal, known as ParentVUE, gives families access to near real-time grades, attendance and other data about their child or children. Families are able to see records for all of their children with a single login. Please note, some information may not be available until school starts.

  • PGCPS uses ParentSquare, a leading communications platform aimed at keeping our school community informed and connected. With ParentSquare, families will receive all school and classroom messages in one place and translated into their preferred language—whether by email, text, app, or web.

  • Contact information, including addresses, telephone numbers, and building principals for each school can be found in our new Schools directory page at the division website.

  • The bell schedule for the 2026-27 School Year at our three secondary level campuses, J.E.J. Moore Middle School (6-7), N.B. Clements Junior High School (8-9), and Prince George High School (10-12) are available below.

    These can also be found on each campuses’ website under the “About” menu, and on the homepage ribbon.

  • Parents can check their ParentSquare app or ParentVue Parent Portal for this information as well. If your child’s route is not populated, or you have questions, feel free to contact the Transportation Department at 804-733-2712.

  • Find your student's bus route, receive real-time updates, and get push notifications about changes or delays using the My Ride K-12 app. 

    To learn more about the My Ride K-12 app, please visit the Transportation Department website for more information, a frequently asked questions section, and links to download the mobile apps.

  • Students are assigned to buses according to their home address. Parents who wish for their child to ride to or from an alternate address need to submit a transportation request using the form provided below. Please allow up to three days to process the request.  Deadline for these requests will be August 9, 2026.

    Request received on / after August 10, 2026 will be held until September 21, 2026. Please review the form for more information and contact our Transportation Department if you have any questions.

  • Parents/guardians who are new to PGCPS are encouraged to call and schedule an appointment this summer at the school their child will be attending in the coming year. Visit our schools page for contact information for our campuses.

    • Note for New Families to PGCPS! To prepare for the start of the school year, Prince George County Public Schools will close registration on Thursday August 13, 2026, as staff engage in division-wide professional development. Student registrations for the 2026-2027 School Year will resume on Friday, August 14, 2026, and the week of August 17-21, 2026, with limited appointments as staff prepare for student orientation and the opening of school.
       

    Students who are not registered for the 2026-2027 School Year by August 21, 2026, will receive a start date and schedule (Grades 6-12) following the first day of school on August 24, 2026.

  • As outlined by state requirements, all kindergarten students will need an updated physical exam dated 8/18/25 or later.  Required vaccines include - 4 doses of DTap, 4 doses of Polio, 2 doses of Hepatitis A, 3 doses of Hepatitis B, 2 doses of MMR and 2 doses of Varicella.

    Additionally, the following vaccines are required for rising 7th graders: Tdap, Meningococcal ACWY, and  HPV (parents can opt for their child to not receive HPV). Finally, for rising 12th graders, Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY) is required for 12th graders on or after 16th birthday.

    For N.B. Clements Junior High School and Prince George High School, supplies can vary by class. Students and families are encouraged to review their class syllabuses for specific supply requests. In general, supplies for Grades 8-12 can include:

    • No. 2 Pencils
    • Blue and black ink pens
    • Fluorescent highlighers 
    • 3-ring binders (Ring size between 1 in. to 2 in.)
    • Tab index binder dividers
    • Pocket folders
    • College-ruled filler paper
    • College-ruled spiral notebook
    • Composition book
    • 3” x 5” index cards
    • Glue sticks 
    • Ruler
    • Colored pencils
    • Earbud-style headphones
    • Optional Items: Hand sanitizer/soaps, antibacterial wipes
  • The cost for breakfast is $2.00, while lunch prices are set at $3.35 for elementary students (Grades PreK-5) and $3.50 for secondary students (Grades 6-12). 

  • Families are encouraged to fill out the meal application for the 2026-2027 school year. For more information, including applying online, visit the Food & Nutrition Services website.

    • Note for Families! If you applied and were approved last year for free and reduced-cost meals, your application is good for the first 30 days of school. Last year's application will expire on September 30, 2026. If you have not filled out a meal application, or have not received an email/letter saying your were approved, families must fill out an application or send their child with lunch or lunch money on the first day of school. 
  • The Preschool Program for At-Risk Four-Year Old Children is provided by the Prince George County Public Schools in cooperation with county agencies. The program is designed for at-risk four-year-olds residing within Prince George County.

    According to budget language set forth by the 2015 General Assembly, a child/family must meet at least one of the four criteria stated below to be admitted into the program.

    • Family income at or below 200 percent of federal poverty guidelines,
    • Homelessness,
    • Student’s parents or guardians are school dropouts, OR
    • Students with special needs or disabilities with Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

    The child must be four years of age on or before September 30th of the enrollment year to meet age requirements.

  • Cell phones remain prohibited for students to use from the first bell of the school day until the final bell of the school day in any areas of their school, including classrooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums and cafeterias. In simple terms:

    • Elementary school students are prohibited from using personal technology during the day.
    • Middle and high school students must keep their devices silent and not visible and store them in their backpacks or another phone storage location away from students during the school day, including during lunch and transition time between classes. These students may be able to use their devices before or after the school day concludes as permitted by the school's administrators.
