Just before students left for Thanksgiving Break late last month, dozens of L.L. Beazley Elementary School students and teachers helped gather up thousands of donated food items to benefit the Prince George County Food Bank as part of the school's receive collection drive.
Throughout November, the Beazley Lions community contributed 5,646 items that would be delivered to the Central Wellness Center along Prince George Drive on Friday, November 22, 2024. During the morning delivery, members of the school's Student Council Association loaded the school bus full of donations with the help of the school's SCA sponsors, Ms. Schwalm and Mrs. Bowen.
The culmination of this fall's food drive represents the highest donation total as a school, with nearly 5,700 items being donated to benefit the incredible resource that is the local food bank.
Beazley Elementary is known for its commitment to giving back to the community and instilling the importance of community service in the next generation. In 2023, Beazley Elementary School's community rallied to support the Prince George County Animal Shelter, ending up with over 1,100 items, including wet and dry foods, toys, and more, being contributed in just over two weeks.
