On Monday, December 2, 2024, members of The Woman's Club of Prince George County, brought in dozens of upcycled ornaments created by first graders from L.L. Beazley Elementary School and students from Oakland Baptist Church's preschool that would be carefully placed on a tree donated to the county by the local nonprofit organization.

Each item made by the preschoolers and first-graders comprised upcycled and repurposed materials, such as popsicle sticks, construction paper, glittering rhinestones, string, pinecones, and more. Before Thanksgiving break, the Beazley Elementary students could use their artistic abilities to craft dozens of unique pieces that now have a new home in the county administration building for hundreds of people to see during the holiday season.

The event, a tradition between the county, local schools, and The Woman's Club of Prince George County for years, ties into Virginia Science Standards of Learning (SOL) Objective 1.8, highlighting the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling and how these actions help conserve natural resources.

The tree and ornaments will be displayed at the Prince George County Administration Building throughout Christmas.
