J.E.J. Moore Middle School's Junior BETA Club students were able to showcase their leadership and collaboration skills during their recent trip to the organization's Leadership Summit in late October.
During a two-day trip on October 29-30 to Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, 15 students participated in a series of themed activities that allowed them to display their analytical and collaboration skills fully. Among them, the Collaboration Connection activity saw a half-dozen students work together to solve a challenge in a short amount of time.
The Project Proposal activity saw Moore's Junior BETA Club think critically about a problem in the community and create a solution. Through their work, the Moore Middle School students conceptualize the creation of a sensory room to support students who are neurodiverse and may need an area to cool down and refocus.
The students also took part in a "Lead Outside the Box" challenge, where they were given a problem prompt when they arrived at the summit and had to present their solution the next day.
Alongside the engaging activities, the club members were able to hear from guest speakers, enjoy a variety of group activities, and experience the well-known water park resort at Great Wolf Lodge.
