Superintendent Lyle Visits PGCPS Campuses During First Day in Prince George County

Nearly a day after being named Prince George County Public Schools' next division superintendent, Dr. Douglas Wayne Lyle spent his first full day in the position visiting the district's campuses to meet with students and staff.

Joined by members of the Prince George County School Board, who voted unanimously on Monday, September 9, 2024, to select Dr. Lyle as the district's superintendent, he would travel to each of PGCPS' educational campuses and support buildings to introduce himself to the school community.

The school's administrative team greeted the new superintendent during each visit before walking their campus, offering Dr. Lyle the opportunity to meet students and staff within each building. During his daylong visit, he spent time with young students at David A. Harrison Elementary School and participated in a science lesson on the metric system with Mrs. Sammler's class at J.E.J. Moore Middle School, among other experiences.

The superintendent also visited central office staff, transportation, and operations department employees during his tour of Prince George County. 

ICYMI: On Monday, September 9, 2024, the Prince George County School Board appointed Dr. Douglas Wayne Lyle, Jr. to serve as Prince George County Public Schools division superintendent, effective Tuesday, September 10, 2024, during their regular business meeting.

Dr. Lyle has almost 30 years of experience in education in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has worked in Franklin County, Bedford County, Montgomery County, and Amherst County. During his career, Dr. Lyle has served as an Instructional Supervisor, Principal, Assistant Principal, and Teacher, among other roles. Most recently, he served as Danville Public Schools' Chief Operations Officer, a position Dr. Lyle had held since 2021.
