Prince George High School is known for its rich performing and visual arts culture across Southside Virginia, and several of the school's artists received high marks during the recently held Fourth Congressional District Art Competition, which Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan hosted.
On Thursday, May 2, 2024, the representative's office announced the winners and finalists for this year's art contest. The contest featured art from students across the congressional district, which includes Prince George County and several surrounding localities.
Prince George High School senior Brooklyn Miller placed second overall in the contest and first in the painting category for their piece titled "A Moment of Silence." Fellow senior Abigail Saucedo received an honorable mention in the drawing category for their piece, "Eye Self Portrait."

The mixed media category of the art competition was well represented by the Royals, with senior Jasmin Dockery placing third with their piece, "A Disconnected Heart," and honorable mentions being given to juniors Annalise Gettier (Reptilian Tranquility) and Joshua Parrish II (Clowning Around), and senior Eliana Brazier (Jasper) for their entries in this year's contest.
“My office received dozens of beautiful, inspiring and thought-provoking submissions from students throughout the district," Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan said in a statement. "Thank you to all the participants for sharing your artistic vision and talents with us, and I encourage you to continue pursuing your love of art.”
These students will be recognized for their achievements during the district's spring academic and athletic awards ceremony at Prince George High School on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 beginning at 6 p.m. in the commons area.
